Royce Moshier, 73, Army veteran and Greenwich native

Royce E. Moshier, 73, of Cos Cob passed away on May 28 in the Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, N.Y.

Mr. Moshier was born on Dec. 10, 1939 in Greenwich to the late Sylvester “Sam” Moshier and Ethel Caldwell Moshier. After growing up in North Mianus and graduating from Greenwich High School in 1958, he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Seneca Army Depot in Romulus, N.Y., from 1963 to 1965, where he achieved the rank of specialist (E-4) and received decorations for his service.

After returning from the military, he started in design/drafting at Barnes Engineering E.D.O. Corp. in Connecticut, retiring in 1998 after 34 years of dedicated service. He held various managerial positions in the Aerospace Electrical Engineering Department as well as the Facilities Department.

Mr. Moshier had resided on Cayuga Lake in Seneca Falls, N.Y., since his retirement in 1998. According to his family, he enjoyed playing baseball as well as a competitive game of euchre. His family told the Post that he was “a gentleman who always had a kind word and continuously lent others a helping hand. He has found a good place in Heaven with his close friend, Joe Milucci, where they are both listening to George Jones’ country music.”

He is survived by his wife, Linda Bellomo Moshier, many close friends and relatives who will miss him deeply, especially his cousin Eric.

Friends and family may call at the Fred D. Knapp & Son Funeral Home, 267 Greenwich Ave on Wednesday, June 5 from 5:00-7:30 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 7:30. Burial will be private in Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich, CT. at the convenience of his family. If desired, contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
